Whilst browsing Finnish design brand Artek ‘s website today, I stumbled upon a photo gallery featuring contract projects that have been furnished with Artek’s design icons. Here is a selection of my favorite ones with some very interesting interior design works, that are, for some of them, blurring that line between design and art.
Artek was founded in 1935 by four young idealists, Alvar and Aino Aalto, Maire Gullichsen and Nils-Gustav Hahl. Their business idea was “to sell furniture and promote a modern culture of habitation by exhibitions and other educational means.” In the radical spirit of its founders, Artek remains in the forefront of the search for future paths within and between the disciplines of design, architecture and art.
